Peaky Blinders - Title Sequence

Peaky Blinders is a fantastic series set in the 1920’s about the infamous British gang, the Peaky Blinders. I teamed up with Will Burkart to create the show’s opener. Our concept centers around depicting the show’s gritty atmosphere through the visualization of some of the Peaky Blinder’s iconography.

One of the things we loved about Peaky Blinders is the visual texture throughout every scene. Based in Birmingham, England, the show captures the hedonism and grittiness of the post World War I era. From concept to production, we focused on creating that same texture throughout the sequence.

This style was something we both had never tried before; there was a lot of trial and error before we arrived at our final solutions. My partner Will Burkart was gracious enough to show me the ropes and I learned a ton throughout the entire process. These are some time-lapses from initial beauty pass to final renders.

Early styleframes we created to resemble the look of old photographs. While the style ended up going in a different direction, it ultimately gave us a foundation for our final designs.

 Thanks for watching!
